What is the Smart Brief?

The Smart Brief is an AI-generated 1-page briefing for covering lawyers, highlighting the most important information from a handover so you can prepare for court quickly.

  1. Accept an agency request.
  2. Open the request and choose Smart Brief from the three-dot (More actions) menu in the top-right of the panel.

The briefing is generated when you ask for it and stays available while you prepare.

What it prioritises
  • Custody clients who must be seen first
  • FTA warnings for charges needing special attention
  • Law list discrepancies (wrong courtroom, client not listed)
  • Patterns from previous outcomes (“adjourned 3 times already”)
  • Key instructions from the requesting lawyer
Keeping the brief fresh

The brief refreshes if the handover details change, and you can click Regenerate if one goes stale. You can also rate a briefing with the thumbs up / down / flag buttons underneath it. That feedback goes straight to Acquit and helps improve future briefings.

Whose AI setting controls it

The Smart Brief follows the requesting solicitor’s Briefings & outcome summaries toggle on Settings → AI, because the brief is built from their client’s data. If the requesting firm has briefings turned off, the Smart Brief isn’t offered for their requests: your own AI settings don’t affect it.

Tip: Use the Smart Brief alongside the standard Print Brief: the AI version highlights priorities, while the printable version has the full structured data.
