How do I find the benchbook chapter for a charge?

When a charge is matched to the offence database, Acquit links it to the relevant benchbook chapter automatically.

  1. Open the client’s Charges tab and click the charge to open its detail drawer.
  2. Scroll to the Related resources section at the bottom of the fact sheet.
  3. Click the chapter link. A robbery charge links the Robbery: s 409 chapter of the Supreme & District benchbook; a breach-of-bail charge links the matching Magistrates Court benchbook section.

The chapter opens in Community in a new tab. The same section also links the offence provision on the Queensland legislation website, so you can read the section as currently in force.

The links only appear on matched charges, and only where a chapter genuinely covering that offence exists. The matching is conservative on purpose, so you’ll never be pointed at a chapter about something else. Unmatched charges show no Related resources section; match the charge first (see “Why didn’t my charge match?” via Guided Match) and the links appear.
