Milestones record significant case events that are not court appearances or deadlines: things like submissions filed, brief of evidence received, or charges committed for trial.
Manually
- Open the client's profile and go to the Case Timeline tab.
- Click the Add Milestone button in the top-right corner of the timeline.
- Select a suggested milestone from the dropdown, or type your own.
- Set the date (defaults to today) and optionally link it to a charge group.
- Click Record Milestone to save.
From a completed task
When you complete a task linked to a client, the completion drawer shows a Record as milestone toggle. Flip it on and a title field appears. If Acquit thinks the task represents a milestone (e.g. “Send submissions”), the field is pre-filled with a suggested title like “Submissions Filed”. Edit the title to whatever you like, then submit. Leave the toggle off and nothing is recorded. Even when there’s no AI suggestion, you can still flip the toggle on and type your own title.
Milestones appear on the Case Timeline with a green flag icon and are grouped under the relevant charge file if linked.
