If a media file shows 0:00 or appears in a “couldn’t be read” notice, it’s almost always one of two things:
- The file is online-only. If your evidence lives in OneDrive, iCloud, Dropbox or Google Drive, the file may be a placeholder that hasn’t downloaded yet. In your file manager, right-click the folder, choose Always keep on this device, wait for the download to finish, then scan again.
- The format isn’t browser-readable. A few video codecs can’t be opened by the browser. The file is still counted, but its duration can’t be measured and won’t add to the media totals.
PDF page counts are never affected by this: they’re read directly and stay exact.
