When Acquit finds your client in a law list, it classifies the match so you can quickly assess its reliability.
- Exact: the full name matches precisely (first, middle, and last name).
- Likely: first and last name match exactly, with a small difference in the middle name (e.g. one-letter typo or a missing initial).
- Possible: first and last name match exactly, but the middle name differs by a couple of characters (e.g. “Rudolf” vs “Rudolph”).
- Tentative: first and last name match but the middle name is clearly different, or only some initials line up.
- Surname: only the surname matches. Useful for Supreme and District Court lists that publish surnames only.
- Roster Listed: the client was found in the court roster with a specific magistrate and courtroom assignment.
You can control which match types trigger notifications from each client’s Notifications section. See Why am I not getting match notifications for a client? if you’re expecting matches that aren’t showing up. Roster listings also show the assigned magistrate and courtroom number when available.
