How do I generate a bail application?

Run the Bail Application tool from the client’s own page and it prepares a ready-to-file Supreme or District Court application for bail (Form 2) as a Word document.

  1. Open the client’s page (a current client), click the menu in the top-right, then Bail Application.
  2. Set the court (Supreme or District), its location, and the hearing time (defaults to 10:00am). The registry follows the court location automatically.
  3. Check the offences. They’re pre-filled from the client’s charges. Edit each line so it reads as it should on the form, add a line by hand, or upload a charge sheet (QP9, charge list or bench charge sheet) to pull more in.
  4. Set who it’s served on (the DPP, or the Commonwealth DPP for federal offences) and confirm your firm’s address for service. The DPP’s details are filled in for you and stay editable.
  5. Review the details and Generate to download the Word document, ready to file.

The file number is left blank, and the hearing date prints with blank space (a / / YYYY line) to hand-write once the application is listed.

Signature and dating

The signature line takes the signature of the solicitor the matter is allocated to, not necessarily whoever generates the application. Your own is used if the matter is unallocated or its solicitor has since left the firm. The application is dated today by default; change it under “Signed at”.

Note: the application is the court form only, so prepare your supporting affidavit material separately and check every detail before filing.
