How do I start a new conversation?

You can message any active user on your firm’s Acquit account directly from the Messages page.

  1. Open the Messages page from the sidebar.
  2. Click the pencil icon beside the search box at the top of the chat list. The New Conversation panel slides in from the right.
  3. Start typing a name to filter the list (it matches on job title and firm as well), then click the person to open the conversation.
  4. Type your message and press Enter to send.

To message several people at once, switch to the Group tab instead.

Tip: If a conversation already exists with that person, Acquit opens the existing chat instead of creating a duplicate.

The conduct rules notice

The first time you start a new conversation, Acquit shows the conduct rules once, in their chat form. Client details are need-to-know there rather than banned, and nothing defamatory or that could bring the profession into disrepute belongs in chat. Click Got it and you won’t see them again.
