How do I record a client's bail conditions?

Upload a Bail Undertaking (Form 7) to the Bail tab on the client’s profile and Acquit pulls the conditions of bail into a clean, numbered list you can read at a glance.

  1. Open the client’s profile and click the Bail tab (next to Charges).
  2. Click Upload and choose the Undertaking as to Bail PDF.
  3. Wait a few seconds while Acquit scans the document and extracts each condition.
  4. Review the extracted conditions, edit any wording or remove a row, then click Save Conditions.

Acquit strips out the form’s clutter (barcodes, file-number and order-number lines, the offence table, page headers and the Form 8 notice) and writes the conditions in plain sentence case rather than the document’s ALL-CAPS. Where it can read them cleanly, it also captures the defendant’s name, the file number(s) and the next court appearance (court, date and time), shown above the list.

Scanned and unnumbered undertakings

Many bail undertakings are scans or photos with no text layer; Acquit reads these as images. It also copes with undertakings that don’t number their conditions and are just separate paragraphs.

Keeping conditions current

Hover over any condition to edit its wording or delete it, and use the menu to add a condition manually. When bail is varied, click Re-scan and upload the new undertaking; it replaces the stored set. You can also copy the conditions to your clipboard or download them as a Word document from the same menu.

Note: scanning sends the document to an AI service to read the conditions, the same way charge extraction does.
