If you’re a clerk, paralegal or junior who works on other fee-earners’ files, the thing you need is to be in the same firm as them. Once you are, their matters are already open to you.
During sign-up
- On the “How will you use Acquit?” step, choose I support other fee-earners.
- On the “Who do you work with?” step, enter the work email of the solicitor(s) you support. Each one gets an invite to join your firm.
If nobody at your firm is on Acquit yet, sending that first invite is what sets the firm up, with you as its admin until you hand that over. If your firm is already here, we’ll say so and ask them to add you instead of starting a second one. Invites expire after 7 days and you can cancel one from the same screen.
What happens next
Once you’re both in the same firm, you can open any of the firm’s files: the firm is the trust boundary, so nothing is walled off between colleagues. What the solicitor chooses is which matters land in your working list: sharing puts a matter in your client list and global search, brings its court dates and events onto your Home agenda and calendar, and sends you the match alerts. You’ll get a notification when they share.
Note: This all works between members of the same firm; a solicitor not in your firm yet will be prompted to invite you first.
