Getting Started Setup & help

How do I use Ask Acquit, the in-app help assistant?

Ask Acquit is a chat assistant built into the app. It answers how-to questions and helps troubleshoot problems, and because it can look at your own account, it can tell you why a court date isn’t syncing rather than giving generic answers.

Opening it

Click the Ask Acquit icon in the footer, next to the ? help menu. A chat card slides in from the right, and the page shifts left so you can keep reading while you chat. It stays open until you close it with the ×; clicking elsewhere won’t dismiss it.

Each open starts a fresh conversation; click the conversation title at the top of the card to reopen a previous chat. A chat that raised a ticket stays attached to that ticket in your Support Centre.

Turning it on

Ask Acquit is off until you switch it on under Settings → AIHelp assistant (the dock shows a one-click prompt the first time). When it’s on, your question and the relevant records from your account (court dates, matters, tasks and calendar sync state) are sent to Anthropic to answer you.

Privacy

Only your own data is ever read to answer you. Conversations are kept and may be reviewed, including with AI assistance, to improve the service. The chat shows a one-time note about this, and the full detail is in the Privacy Policy. You can turn Help assistant off at any time; the Support Centre and email keep working regardless.

Raising a ticket from the chat

If something is genuinely broken or needs the Acquit team, Ask Acquit can raise a support ticket for you. It shows a card describing the ticket, and nothing is sent until you click to confirm. The ticket then lands in your Support Centre with the conversation attached, the team is notified, and you get an email confirmation, exactly like a ticket you raise yourself.

Note: Ask Acquit helps you use the app rather than giving legal advice on your matters; anything it can’t resolve, it points to the Support Centre or docs.acquit.app.
