The Matter Size Calculator scans a folder of brief-of-evidence files and tells you how big a matter really is. You get the total page count, an estimate of review time, and whether the matter meets the Legal Aid Queensland grant thresholds. Extraordinary means more than 1,000 pages; Expensive means more than 2,500 pages plus a criterion.
Find it under Tools → Matter Size Calculator. It works in two steps:
- Scan: choose the folder containing the brief. The tool reads each file and counts pages and media length.
- Review: see the totals, the threshold results, and a per-file breakdown with editable perusal/scanning categories. Change a category and the totals update live.
PDF page counts are exact. Word documents are listed separately and excluded from the countable total (verify their length in Word). Everything runs in your browser: nothing is uploaded. The figures are a preparation aid; you certify them before relying on them.
