How do I sign in with a passkey?

A passkey lets you sign in with Touch ID, Face ID, Windows Hello, or a security key: no password and no 2FA code. It cannot be phished, because the credential is bound to acquit.app and to the device you registered it on.

Adding a passkey
  1. Go to SettingsSecurity.
  2. Find the Passkeys section and click Add a passkey.
  3. Follow your browser’s prompt: pick Touch ID / Face ID / Windows Hello, or insert a security key.
  4. Name the passkey something memorable (e.g. “iPhone” or “Work laptop”) so you can recognise it later.

You can register up to 20 passkeys on one account, one per device you regularly use. If you sign in with a verification code and don’t have a passkey yet, we also offer to set one up right after you sign in; choose Maybe later to dismiss the offer.

Tip: Passkeys saved in iCloud Keychain, Google Password Manager, or 1Password sync across your devices automatically, so you only need to register once.

Signing in
  1. Click Continue with a passkey at the top of the sign-in page, beside Continue with Microsoft.
  2. Confirm with your fingerprint, face, PIN, or security key when prompted.

The 2FA code step is skipped: a passkey proves both who you are and that you have the device, so it counts as full multi-factor authentication on its own.

Password sign-ins

If a passkey is your only second factor and you sign in with your email and password, we’ll ask you to confirm with your passkey before you’re let in. A password on its own is never enough. It’s worth generating Backup Codes (Settings → Security) as a fallback in case you lose the device your passkey is on.

Lost devices

Open SettingsSecurityPasskeys on any device you still have, find the passkey you want to revoke, and click Remove. If you have lost every passkey, use the Forgot password? link on the sign-in page to recover access by email; your remaining passkeys (if any) are kept intact.
